PCL Bill of Rights
There are no consumer rights to convey normative principles and values for supports and services in our nation. Until now, consumers have not had a way to express their collective voice to call for changes. CCAL has partnered with ChangingAging to provide an easy way for consumers across the nation to collectively make their needs and preferences heard by creating a PCL Bill of Rights!
The U.S. Constitutional Bill of Rights was created to protect certain rights of American citizens (e.g., freedom of speech, a free press, free assembly) and serves as the foundation of our nation’s legal and governmental culture. A PCL Bill of Rights can serve a similar function for the foundation of our nation’s supports and services culture and set forth clear values and principles as defined by consumers themselves.
The national PCL Bill of Rights initiative will begin in early 2011. Please revisit this website soon to add your voice and help create a national PCL Bill of Rights for consumers of aging and disability services. Make your voice count!
Personal voices and experiences can be a very powerful force to directly influence and inform decision-makers and providers of aging and disability services. Elders and people with disabilities and their family member advocates and others in their support network can sign up here in early 2011 to participate in a Town Hall Forum. Make your voice heard!
